Homemade Doughnuts Recipe

 Here's a recipe for homemade doughnuts:




Ingredients:


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)


Instructions:


  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and melted butter.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a smooth dough forms.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 1 minute.
  • Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/2 inch and use a doughnut cutter or a biscuit cutter to cut out the doughnuts. Alternatively, you can use a glass to cut out the doughnuts and a smaller round cutter or a bottle cap to cut out the holes.
  • Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a large pot or Dutch oven until it reaches a temperature of 375°F (190°C).
  • Fry the doughnuts in batches, flipping them once, until they are golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
  • Use a slotted spoon to transfer the doughnuts to a paper towel-lined baking sheet to drain.
  • While the doughnuts are still warm, toss them in granulated sugar to coat them.
  • Serve the doughnuts warm or at room temperature.
